9:15 am Sunday School for children, youth, and adults

10:30 am Worship
Dearest Sunset Family,
It has been my privilege for six years to serve you as your Pastor. Indeed, our time together has been one of the great joys of my life. My family, too, has enjoyed your love and support and we will always treasure our time here with you. However, I write to you with grief as our time together comes to an end. I have requested a personal leave of absence from ministry to begin this summer. I have struggled for a while now with an anxiety disorder and putting a pause on ministry will simply allow me the time I need to deal with this in a healthy manner.
While I appreciate your affection for me and your support, your new pastor will need the same. In the weeks ahead I will be working with your church leadership to ensure that this time of transition goes smoothly. Please be in prayer for Sunset, your church leaders, and for my family. More importantly, pray for your new pastor’s family and the ministry you will do together.
This Sunday we will celebrate Holy Communion. It’s a reminder that the church belongs to Christ and Christ alone. While it’s never easy to adapt to change, it’s how God breathes life into our lives. Come, worship together even in this uncertainty for This is a Day of New Beginnings.
In faith we’ll gather round the table,
To taste and share what love can do.
This is a day of new beginnings;
Our God is making all things new.
May we ever cling to the promise of new life and resurrection.
In Christ,
Pastor Keith

A caring ministry for

families and friends

of LGBTQ persons

Because God has accepted us as we are, we seek to accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity. We welcome diversity as we become an inclusive part of a church of open hearts, open minds and open doors.

The purpose of the Open Hearts ministry is to provide an environment in which people can tell their stories if they wish, receive support and begin to learn that they are not alone. Since education is key to separating fact from fiction regarding issues with which we are not familiar, presentations are designed to provide information in an atmosphere that is safe and nonjudgmental.

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, July 16th, at 7:00pm in the library at Sunset UMC.  Sunset is located at 709 Allendale Rd., Pasadena, TX 77502.

A disciple is a follower of Jesus whose life centers on loving God and others.

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by loving God, living His word and sharing the grace.

Sunset UMC provides opportunities and encouragement for spiritual growth and each member assumes primary responsility for their growth.

In 2019 the church council endorsed and presented the DISCIPLESHIP JOURNEY plans for our children, youth and adults as a measurement and accountablity for our journeys as followers. Click below for a copy of the journey guides.
